A dam is a high structure aimed to restrict the movement of water in rivers, streams and creeks and blocks it within the area they are placed at the natural streambed vertically. Dams curb water flow and contain it within huge barricades in order to use the suppressed water in other useful activities like, irrigation, human consumption, business industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability. It also helps in holding against floods and storing water until it is distributed to its designated locations. Most important use of a dam is generating electricity. Dams are highly engineered structures which are built using many materials most commonly concrete.
